HealtHIE Nevada: A Study in Privately Funded Health Information Exchange

This session will begin with a general overview on the functionality of Nevada’s Health Information Exchange (HIE), including a comparison to national trends in HIE. We will take a hard look at the development and sustainability of privately funded HIEs vs. government funded models. We will discuss the importance of the Triple Aim, how it relates to technology and improving our nation’s health system. The importance of data capture, integrity, and use will permeate throughout the duration of the presentation.

Learning Objectives:
  • Appreciate the importance of Health Information Exchange.
  • Recognize the importance of data integrity and use of structured data within HIEs.
  • Understand the differences and similarities between the financial sustainability of private and public HIEs.
  • Consider how HIEs support the Three-Part Aim.
