HDS to Scribe: Using Your Skills to Keep Doing What You Love!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Whether a provider uses point and click, speech recognition, or scribes to help with increasing workloads of documentation, many HDS jobs, work, and/or pay have been affected. An option some HDSs have transition to is scribing. The HDS skill set is a perfect fit for this occupation. We have superior critical thinking skills and, for many of us, years of experience in producing truly accurate healthcare documentation. The transition to becoming a scribe means regular work hours which equal a regular paycheck, but it is not without some necessary preparation. Deborah Nolan, CHDS, and Dr. Kathleen Myers of Essia Health (formerly Scribes STAT) will explain what the benefits are to providers who use scibes and the benefits to HDSs who become scribes.

Learning Objectives:
1. To help HDS utilize their skill sets in order to continue working.
2. To help HDS understand scribing in an EHR world.
3. To explore day-to-day working as a scribe and other possibilities.
