How HDSs' Role Can Stay Relevant in the EMR

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Doctors are drowning in red tape regulating exactly how they must practice, including how they document patient encounters throughout their day. Learn how transcription providers are in a unique position to solve problems associated with providers performing their own documentation to meet Meaningful Use (MU) requirements, including reduced revenue, lower morale, and higher risks. While early impressions were that MU requirements for structured data meant transcriptionists could not help physicians, Stage 2 includes a requirement for EMR programs to accept Consolidated CDA documents. AHDI was a founder of the Health Story Project that developed Consolidated CDA, and this early investment is paying off in a big way for 2014 and beyond. Learn how medical transcriptionists can now create documents that include both narrative and structured data suitable for the EMR and MU requirements. With technology that renders these documents in Consolidated CDA format, all Stage 2 certified EMRs can accept them. Medical language specialists, using the newest technology, can secure their futures by helping doctors enjoy their work, achieve EMR MU, see more patients, and reduce risks from errors and omissions by returning to rapid, expressive dictation.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to stay relevant in the EMR era.
2. Learn how Consolidated CDA is your new best friend.
3. Learn how transcription is morphing into a new form of documentation.
