Darlene Castles, scribe trainer/manager for Essia Health (formerly Scribes STAT), has been an HDS for 15 years. Most of her experience has been in acute care, and she has worked as both an employee and as an independent contractor. She has also worked as a trainer and quality assessment specialist for HDSs. In 2011 Darlene completed a HIT program in the specialty of Trainer in EMR implementation. She has served as an adjunct instructor, teaching pathophysiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology in the HIT Program at a local community college.
She is currently using her HDS skills to create and teach healthcare documentation. She loves that her extensive background as a Healthcare Documentation Specialist has smoothly transitioned to a career she loves!
